Quickwater and Sky Mountain Ranch Programs

The purpose of Quickwater and Sky Mountain Ranches is to bring teens and their families together to strengthen their relationships with each other, with friends, and with their Creator and to build their personal strength and open their vision to their own potential.

Girls Session

The two-week girls’ session takes place at Quickwater Ranch in Victor Idaho. Twenty-five girls, ages 13 through 16, are organized into five mixed-age groups. Each group is joined by an adult female mentor who works with them on Ranch chores, including cooking, cleaning, gardening, animal care, and other work around the Ranch.

A Leadership Team of six girls, ages 17 and 18, who have been campers at the Ranch, act as hostesses and assistants to the adult leaders, and as role models to the younger girls. They also teach craft classes to the younger girls.

The Ranch is staffed by a mature couple that acts as directors, an adult female mentor for the Leadership Team, a food coordinator, a horse wrangler, and a couple that coordinates service opportunities for the girls in the community of Victor.

The girls participate in work projects, horseback riding, river floating, rock climbing, biking, and various musical and craft activities. They participate in a three-day back-packing trip in the nearby mountains and also enjoy other nature activities.

The Ranch program has a strong spiritual component. Each girl spends some quiet solitary time each day pondering, reading and writing. Each day has a specific spiritual theme which is introduced in the morning by the Leadership Team and discussed in the tents at night.

Evening activities include games, campfires, discussions, and talent sharing. The girls sleep in canvas-covered wood frame tents.

The staff is all volunteer, and the girls are not charged an admission fee.

Family Session

The Quickwater and Sky Mountain Ranches offer a one-week summer retreat for families of teens. Located in the idyllic Teton Valley, it provides a unique opportunity for families. All family members age 8 and older are invited to come and participate in the varied programs and enjoy the beautiful mountain setting.

The programs are free to all participants. This is made possible by the many volunteers involved with the program, a non-profit organization, and the participants themselves. During their stay participants may be asked to share their talents and assist in everything from teaching classes to milking goats.

The family program is designed to provide a sanctuary from the busy chaotic modern lifestyle. During their stay at the ranch participants are asked to limit their use of electronics to photographic devices. We would ask that you leave MP3 players, with or without headphones, at home. Families are encouraged to bring musical instruments to play and share their musical talents. We also request that cell phones only be used for coordinating activities. Please refrain from using games, apps and other functions on your phone. Face to face personal interaction plays a key role in all that we do at the ranch.

The days are spent participating in a variety of activities together and with other families. The activities vary from year to year. Activities could include horseback riding, hiking, river floating, archery, pottery, wood working, yoga, tai chi, community service, gardening, animal care, craft classes, talent sharing, cooking, and scripture study.

We look forward to learning and growing with you. See you there!
